"I'm Gonna Burn up in the Atmosphere..."

The energy from the pounding drums rattled through our veins. The feel of the wind smothered our faces. We felt the velocity of the car sweep us across the highway.

This was it. The moment captured in my memory and implanted like a gem. The time when we had I Can Feel it Calling on the speakers and turned on the volume so high that it tore through the wind. We were driving across New Zealand’s North Island. The edges of dusk were appearing. But we had surely disappeared away from our home and galvanised into this beautiful country of rolling hills and nature’s hidden treasures.

It was something special. The moment in the car when we were driving towards this place we’d never been to. The sunset was in such a clear view and a grasp away. We burnt through the atmosphere while we passed lakes, waterfalls and mountains.

This was surely a time of us disappearing from our lives and into the unknown.
